making over a historic site

"The project involves the adaptive reuse of the historic former factory and offices of the F.N. Burt Company, which at one time was the world’s largest manufacturer of paper boxes." -500Seneca.com

When we had the opportunity to look at this historic space, we knew this was it. We were given the chance to create a work studio from nothing and saw so much potential. At first walk-through, there was only the beginning of some plumbing for a restroom run, and the plumbing pipes from floor 2 visible. We had no walls, no ceiling, and the original factory floor. There weren't even any utilities being run to the space! It was a life-changing experience seeing what a project like this entails. After so many years in the trade, we all knew what we wanted: to keep the integrity of the original build as much as possible, but to add our own style. It was a gigantic endeavor taken on by the entire hair team, our friends, family, and a whole crew of plumbers, contractors, and electricians. We can't thank everyone who was part of this enough for making our dream come true!

Housed in the oldest part of the factory - originally built starting in 1901 - crown is so proud to call the former F.N. Burt our home.

crown's interior will be ever-evolving. We're still perfecting and bringing more personality to the interior every week. Guests have been asking "How much work did it take to make this place come together?" Well, take a look...
